Biography

Richard Falkensten, DDS

Having received a full education and career in dentistry, Dr. Falkensten is happy to provide you the highest quality of dental care and treatment.

In his earlier years, Dr. Falkensten served in the United States Army. Dr. Falkensten studied at the University of Tulsa and at the University of Missouri K.C. to earn his DDS Degree. To help as many people as he could throughout his career, Dr. Falkensten also has received accomplished licenses for Missouri, Kansas, Okalahoma and has received a license in Cosmotology.

As well as having an impressive career in practicing dentistry, Dr. Falkensten also has had an impressive career in teaching dentistry. He has taught at UMKC Dental School as an Assistant Professor and as an Endodontics Consultant. He has also been a guest lecturer to Missouri Southern State College and at Crowder College.

Dr. Falkensten has also written and been published for the following publications:

  • Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry
  • Journal of Missouri Dental Association
  • Dental Survey (Periodical Journal)

He has also published Intra Academic Reports regarding endodontics and government syllabus of DMF Studies.

Dr. Falkensten is known as “The Originator and Father of External Whitening of Teeth.” He earned this title by introducing the procedure to the Dental Profession while teaching at UMKC.

When he’s not working with us and our patients in the office, Dr. Falkensten is often quite involved in this community. Over the years, he as been involved in the following programs and organizations:

  • Public Schools for Joplin (volunteer)
  • South Middle School for Joplin (PTO Chairman)
  • Joplin Boys Club Soccer (Coach)
  • Girls Baseball and T-Ball
  • Little League Baseball in Joplin
  • Girl Scouts of America (Ozark Council Leader)
  • Boy Scouts of America (Mokan Council Executive Board and Indian Nations Council Board of Directors)
  • Tulsa Boys Home (Board of Directors)
